Portage Glacier Boat Tour

Cruise Portage Lake to the face of Portage Glacier aboard a covered boat. The glacier has retreated significantly in recent decades, making the cruise itself a lesson in climate change. Icebergs float in the milky blue-green water, and the glacier face towers overhead as the boat approaches within safe distance. Transportation from Whittier to Portage Lake is included. The three-hour total includes driving and about one hour on the water. This is one of the most accessible and affordable glacier experiences in Alaska, suitable for all ages and mobility levels.
