Haines Sea Otter & Marine Life Kayak

Paddle stable tandem kayaks through the protected waters of Portage Cove and Letnikof Cove, watching for sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, and eagles from water level. The guide provides paddling instruction, dry bags for cameras, and narrates the marine ecology as you glide past kelp forests and rocky shorelines. On calm days, the reflections of the surrounding mountains on the water create exceptional photography opportunities. The launch point is a short walk from the pier. No prior kayaking experience is needed, but you should be comfortable getting in and out of a kayak and paddling for about two hours. Water exposure is moderate since spray skirts keep you mostly dry. Dress warmly with synthetic layers. The protected cove waters are calm compared to open ocean, making this suitable for beginners. Return to ship is very low risk since you launch and land near the port.
