Sheldon Museum & Cultural Center Visit

The Sheldon Museum houses an impressive collection of Tlingit artifacts, gold rush memorabilia, and natural history exhibits that tell the story of the Chilkat Valley. Highlights include a rare collection of Chilkat blankets, historic photographs, and exhibits on the commercial fishing and mining industries that shaped the region. Self-guided and docent-led tours are available. The museum is a five-minute walk from the cruise pier. The visit takes about 90 minutes and is entirely indoors with modern facilities. This is the best rainy-day option in Haines and provides excellent context for understanding the town and surrounding area. Very affordable and suitable for all ages and mobility levels.
